I went on a Future Bass binge last night. On a whim, I began a hunt through the web for...you know those tunes that emit a crazy vibe and take you out of this world...straight emotional music. Anyways, in my fugue state of listening to newly discovered producers such as Altisko, Windslo, and 813, I happened to come across ODESZA's newly released EP, My Friends Never Die, which didn't fall short of what I was looking for.
Filled with "sun-trickled melodies", colorful sound design and a swathe of familiar samples, this is a collection of songs that anyone can listen to and enjoy. An incredible EP to say the least, I would have gladly paid to acquire this new music, but ODESZA has so generously offered it as a free download.
My Friends Never Die opens up strong with a track of the same name. You catch a subtle piano riff reminiscent of "Still D.R.E." and then get swept away in arpeggiators and whirling synths.

Although it was hard to choose, my personal favorite had to be "Without You" which features the amazing vocals from Gotye & Kimbra on "Somebody That I Used to Know."
