My Bloody Valentine Announce New Record; Universal Ecstasy Ensues

November 7, 2012 -

Dominick Knowles

OK so if you've never listened to Loveless, My Bloody Valentine's 1991 monolith of an album, stop reading/breathing/blinking/performing any other autonomic function until you do.

Finished? Nice.

Anyway, today, Kevin Shields --MBV's elusive frontman-- told Pitchfork Media about his plans to release a record by the end of 2012.

Here's a bit of what he said to P4k:

"People who like us will immediately connect with something," he said. "Based on the very, very few people who've heard stuff-- some engineers, the band, and that's about it-- some people think it's stranger than Loveless. I don't."

In the wake of this news, I will be listening to Loveless on repeat until I morph into a geometrically/biologically stable waveform of the guitar riff on "Only Shallow." Goodbye.
