This Saturday things are about to get deep in Santa Barbara, California. Music Is Love, a collaborative effort between artists, musicians, and visionaries based in Santa Barbara, has quite the bill lined up at The Earl Warren Showgrounds. Located in the beautifully isolated and tranquil beach town of Santa Barbara, just north of Malibu, the Earl Warren Showgrounds is no stranger to booking top notch talent. I have witnessed Seven Lions, whom is from Santa Barbara, Porter Robinson, and Adventure Club all hone their craft at this venue and I was impressed by how effectively the Showgrounds are able to pull off these productions and keep it raver friendly. This Saturday will prove that the 805, area code for Santa Barbara and Ventura County, is truly stepping up their game in the EDM community and also proving that EDM is definitely a force to be reckoned with even in the most chill and serene of places.
Featuring Djemba Djemba of Mad Decent, LOUDPVCK, and the king of Night Bass himself, AC Slater, this Saturday is going to be a perfect display of some of the artists that will dominate 2015. With Djemba Djemba releasing on Mad Decent, his own imprint Rabbit Records, and in the midst of his Team Supreme tour, Djemba’s music has been supported by the likes of Diplo, The Gaslamp Killer, Rusko, Baauer, Obey City, Major Lazer, Paul Devro, and BBC Radio 1. With exciting collaborations in the works with some of the biggest names in EDM, and his finger on the pulse of the latest dance music via his co-club night The Melt, Djemba Djemba certainly has a few surprises on the horizon and figures to heavily impact 2015. LOUDPVCK is also going to be a force reckoned with in 2015, as 2014 proved that they are here to stay. With Kenny Beats (aka Kenneth Blume) and Ryan Marks colliding in 2009, the buzz has been building ever since and it is clear that their hard work is paying off. Skrillex, A-Trak, Dillon Francis, Zeds Dead, Danny Brown, 12th Planet, Adventure Club, Flosstradamus, Baauer, UZ, DJ Carnage, AC Slater, DJ CRAZE, BroSafari, Brillz and Paper Diamond have all shown their support of LOUDPVCK over the past year and 2015 is already shaping to be even bigger for the duo. Finally, the king of only the deepest and heaviest bass music in North America, AC Slater is "slated" to close out the night later in the evening for the official after party with some surprise guests lined up. Clearly owning 2014 with his unique blending of elements in the house music world and the dirty basslines of UK garage and sprinkles of old-school rave synths and breaks that has taken the EDM world by storm, the Night Bass founder has consistently kept moving forward and doing his best to keep things underground as much as possible. The 805 is truly in for a treat this weekend as this figures to be the premiere EDM event in the 805 to date and with any luck, the start of something special on the coast outside of Los Angeles. Snag your tickets here for the event as well as the after party. -Bradley Callison
