Morelia is slithering back over to Teethy with his next release, a vicious electro/club drop by the name of ‘C U WRK.’ Tanner Munn is a dance music anomaly from Los Angeles that has been snaking his way into the spotlight under the moniker Morelia. He’s no stranger to Dance Music, having hatched his very own imprint under the label umbrella with Teethy, a breeding ground for the animalistic grooves he’s been releasing into the wild for over a year now.
On top of running his own shop, Munn made his debut appearance on labels like Dirtybird, Insomniac Records, and mau5trap, to name a few. Morelia is on the move yet again, as he creeps back onto the catalog with a proper release taking the shape of his new EP. ‘C U WRK’ boasts four up-tempo club tracks made to slay. Morelia gets all kinds of dirty on the title cut, as he constructs a snarling groove marked by a hefty bassline, crunchy drum programming, and a slinky synth lead that will tickle the frontal cortex. The appraisals are in, and it’s a certified club tool.
On the flip, “ONT” is an ode to the OG Detroit ravers. A hypnotic acid line reaps through with such ease that it causes a complete drift away from the listeners surroundings. ONT is followed by a completely unique and proper remix from Spain’s electro legend, Manao. Bringing elements of jungle-breaks, and combining them with funky electro, but then topped off with sexy whispering vocals, this combination makes for an absolute dancefloor melter. Morelia closes out the EP with a fierce, but mysterious track called Resin Smoke. Starting with an ethereal breaks vibe, but then leading through electro, to4-on-the-floor, and back to electro, this track is a journey within itself.
Since its launch, Teethy has been shelling out quality cuts constructed at the hands of its label-boss. We’ve seen him round up some homies to get in on the action as part of the ‘Morelia & Friends’ compilations. His sharp-toothed grooves have also trickled over to Insomniac Radio, with a weekly feeding schedule that takes place during the Teethy Thursdays radio show(Dash Radio). His stock continues to skyrocket with each and every record. On the ‘C U WRK’ EP, Morelia has assessed the situation and taken swift action to keep the dance music scene on a healthy trajectory.
