Minimal Effort: All Hallow’s Eve Was A Spooky Underground Haven

Halloween this year came and went in the blink of an eye. But with Halloween night happening on a Wednesday, that opened not only the weekend after but also the weekend before the 31st to many opportunities to get dressed in costume and have a ball.

With so many choices available, the right one seemed to be LA underground favorite, Minimal Effort. Their curated lineup was the perfect combination of heavy hitters as well as local talent, featuring Boys Noize, Louisahhh, and Dirtybird Player Ardalan‘s Ardy Party stage takeover.

Upon arrival, we were greeted with many spooky decorations in the main lobby of the Belasco theater. The outside patio of the venue also featured many local vendors, selling all kinds of trinkets and cool merchandise.

With 4 stages spread across the venue, it was quite easy to get lost and find yourself at a set you didn’t expect to be at. My personal favorite stage was the basement, featuring sets from Audiofly and Nicola Cruz. But no night is complete without getting down and dirty at the Ardy Party. Worthy and Christian Martin were playing some booty bouncing bangers, and the Dirtybird vibes were in full force. They even capped off a night with a rockin’ b2b set with the party crew.

The main stage had our most anticipated sets of the night, with an absolutely stacked lineup. We were there in time to catch sets from Ocean Roulette b2b Ciress and Human Resources (the main minds behind the whole event). But what we could not prepare ourselves for enough was the total destruction that Louisahhh and Boys Noize were about to bring.

Both of their sets were chock full of mind-melting techno and acid heaters, supplemented by insanely trippy visuals by local artist Squid Emoji. Not to mention that Boys Noize played a 2-hour set that was entirely on another level coming from the Berlin-based artist.

Again, with so much to do in Los Angeles for Halloween there really was no better choice for us than Minimal Effort. They’ve done a fantastic job not only with their event but in truly displaying what the local underground scene is all about. With their newly announced New Year’s Eve party featuring a heavy techno lineup, we cannot wait to see what they have in store to bring 2018 to an end. Check out the lineup below!
