Major Lazer – Cold water (feat. Justin Bieber & MØ)

Back from an incredible year of success with their record breaking single 'Lean On' (#1 in over 20 countries, most streamed Spotify song of all time), Major Lazer and team up again for their follow-up single titled: 'Cold Water'. This time adding musical heavyweight, Justin Bieber into the mix, who is fresh-off his first Grammy Award win back in February for 'Where Are You Now', his last enormously successful collaboration with Jack Ü. Other writers include: Ed Sheeran and pop industry veterans Benny Blanco, and Jamie Scott!

'Cold Water' incorporates elements of acoustic guitar strummed in a relaxing fashion, accompanied by a steady Moombahton type beat at mid-tempo that really draws you into the vibe of the track. Rounding up the chilled-out verse section would be none other than Justin Bieber’s caressing vocals, which cements what the track is really about: passion. The chorus section runs wild, heavily contrasting the tranquil and unobtrusive verse section. Loud chaotic trumpets and pitchy leads lay waste to the acoustic serenity of the verse section. Justin’s vocals are sublime in complementing the melody and the beat in the chorus section. I also can’t get enough of that rhythmic bass which attempts to bring back some of the calm and peacefulness which was present in the verse section.

Originally, MØ was the sole vocal collaborator on this song, but that soon changed only weeks leading up to its official release on Diplo's Mad Decent, which was just under a week ago! She delivers again spectacularly, with her signature vocals and lyrics in the bridge section, complementing the ritzy orchestral strings that only now make their debut. This song truly takes you on a ride!

'Cold Water' impressively sits atop the Spotify charts at #1 currently, garnering massive radio play all around the world.
