LUMBERJVCK - JVCKWOOD EP [Rottun Records]

August 28, 2014 -

Louis Garcia

Coming out of Southern California Connor Schatzel, aka LUMBERJVCK, makes his debut onto Rottun Records (Excision's label) with this eccentric bass heavy EP. I first ran into his music a year ago after catching his performance at Dim Mak Studios in Hollywood. Since then he's been dropping track after track of fire with his signature style of filthy extraterrestrial dubstep. After plenty of attention from some of the top EDM blogs, we find him here with this four-track masterpiece of modern bass music.

He feeds us the high energy we expect from dubstep with its knocking drums and intense bass wubs in a challenging experimental layout. You're not gonna find your typical buildups, breakdowns, and drops, but instead we get the extreme of both ends. These tracks are set to maximum firepower from start to finish. At the few moments that they aren't completely bumping, they're soaked up in ambient textures filled with eerie samples of chainsaws and campfire demons. He fills this release with an array of dirty and beautiful sonic textures making it an extremely worthy addition of Rottun's catalogue.

This EP is available to stream on Soundcloud and if you really dig it feel free to grab your copy over at Beatport.

Don't forget to catch him on September 6th at the Cosmic World Festival in Orlando, Florida.
