One year in the electronic music industry is like two seconds in real life: blink, and your favorite budding producer is suddenly embarking on a world tour. For Mija, the fantasy-come-true began when she was personally plucked by Skrillex during Bonnaroo 2014 to play a surprise sunrise back-to-back set. "Crank It (feat. Lil Jon)," a collaboration with Ghastly, then appeared just months later on OWSLA's Eggnog holiday compilation. So what is the Arizona native up to now? After releasing an incredible handful of originals and remixes on labels such as OWSLA, and in addition to her laundry list of shows and festival spots (including Mysteryland and Shambhala), she's about to embark on a world tour. To put it shortly, Amber Giles is the turquoise-flamed, fast-igniting atomic bomb that the electronic music scene has been calling for.
This Friday, September 4, you can witness the 22-year-old's genre-bending talents as she comes back to Webster Hall in New York City for the Electric Zoo: Transformed Official Afterparty. The last time she played at this monumental venue, she opened up for Tchami with a set that made the walls shake (literally – the balcony floor jiggled with every beat). Recently, Mija remixed Major Lazer's "B2GETHER" (streaming below), giving it an atmospheric, future-infused edge.
Girls & Boys residents Alex English, Dali, and Hiyawatha will, as you know, prep-and-prime you for this special kick-off to Labor Day Weekend.
