Kygo Will Keep You Warm Via Thomas Jack Presents Vol. 6

November 20, 2014 -

Despite the frozen apocalypse that is now what's left of the United States, Kygo, the poster boy for tropical house has released a warming hour of tunes via Thomas Jack Presents. The monthly mix that Thomas Jack started about 6 months ago has been primarily reserved for spinning his own tunes, but has recently featured artists similar to his style like Bakermat and Klingande.

Kygo's set marks the 6 edition of the mix and it couldn't have had better timing. Both of the artists have been headlining several shows with each other for the past 6 months so it was about time they worked on something together. After going to Kygo's Endless Summer Tour stop at Output (co-headlined by Thomas Jack) last September, I couldn't help but notice that a lot of his set comprised of what we heard during his BBC Guest Mix For Diplo & Friends a month prior, so it's great to hear what the artist has been working on since. It features some songs that I remember Thomas played during his set, but Kygo definitely makes it his own.

It's hard to pin point which of these tracks necessarily stand out from the rest, because it flows so well, but I'd have to say "Walking On the Moon (J-Art & Madan Remix)" was a nice surprise and the Manilla Killa remix of "All I Want" was pretty tight. It was also interesting that he threw in the German pop track "Rollercoaster (Filous Remix)" by Julian le Play. It took me a solid 30 seconds to realize that the song I was jamming out to wasn't in English, nethertheless, my foot started tapping twice as hard.

Kygo signed to Sony/Ultra back in September, promising us some new tunes, so be on the look out. Hopefully he'll bring some original tropical lovin' soon to warm us up again. Check out the full setlist below.
