An unlikely trio has just emerged from the depths of the winter months. Karma Fields has resurfaced on the Monstercat imprint and have partnered up with Danish powerhouse MORTEN and actress Juliette Lewis for the Electro inspired “Stickup.” Juliette Lewis brings her characteristic Natural Born Killers vocals to the track and adds to the aggressiveness of the production. Her cinematic background also contributes for a more movie-like feel, especially when paired with a stunning video by Raven Kwok. The track is a little something out of all the involved artists’ comfort zones. This also makes “Stickup” even more dramatic and the ominous feel of the track provides a progressively humanizing feel to Karma Fields. With MORTEN comes the association with more club friendly tracks while this production is quite complex and dark. To top it all off, Modestep stepped in and pulled off a solid rework as well. While the uniting of these musicians is almost seemingly unlikely, the skills and background they all possess combines for a rather interesting aesthetic.

The beautifully stunning and trippy 3-D video created by visual artist Raven Kwok perfectly suits the vibe and raw emotion materialized from the record. “Stickup” is already Karma Fields’ third release on the independent imprint Monstercat and we truly look forward to what is to come in 2016. With Modestep stepping in to provide a ruthless Drumstep remix, this raises the intensity of “Stickup” to an even greater level.
