Justin Jay is a house producer from Los Angeles and also the youngest member of the Dirtybird family. Over the past year Jay has begun to develop his own sound combining the heavy bass lines you would expect from a Dirtybird artist with more progressive and upbeat leads. I caught his set in the Do Lab at Weekend 1 of this year’s Coachella and it ended up being one of the best sets of the festival. The set was a showcase of his interesting take on house music and even featured a live vocalist and guitarist for the last half.
Chris Lorenzo has been putting out music for years with different collaborations and projects but only recently has he been putting out his own solo material. You may have heard the song “Coke Diet” by Scotty Boy & Lorenzo, “Rhymes” by Hannah Wants & Chris Lorenzo, or the Cause & Affect remix of “One Bad Bitch” all of which Lorenzo had his hands on. He has an interesting take on UK Garage that has landed him gigs headlining Night Bass at Sound. After performing the best set I saw at EDC Las Vegas I’ve been eagerly awaiting his next release.

This week the two released their new collaboration entitled Storm. The track begins with a nice break beat before dreamy pads and vocals delicately ease their way into the mix. The track builds up to a drop with a rumbling bass accompanied perfectly by the vocals, break beat, and some horn stabs. As the track goes on we see layers of those melodic synths that Jay is so great with add on to the “Storm” of bass that Lorenzo has established to create a really nice groove.
