In the midst of a worldwide pandemic, Los Angeles-based producer JOY provides temporary relief with the release of his dynamic full-length debut album – Soft Whisper. The project brings together early 1990s IDM and chilled out beats, while thoughtfully adding a modern edge. Across this 80 minute, twelve-track pictorial and cinematic masterpiece, JOY seamlessly fuses tribal drums, celestial and sci-fi inspired beats, and ethereal female vocals, for a musical experience unlike any other.

After one listen, it’s clear that Soft Whisper perpetuates a highly spiritual and progressive vibe. Inspired by artists such as Boards of Canada and Autechre, Soft Whisper features whispery, poetic vocals over heavy, downtempo beats that echo with deep, low-end bass. Accented by sultry, sensual, and smooth synths, Soft Whisper beckons and yearns for a greater understanding of the universe, the power of love, and the supernatural forces beyond our control.

JOY says about his debut album release: “Soft Whisper is the accumulation of all my musical aspirations. This is the music that moved me and I wanted to give something back to the history of electronic music.”
