Welcome to the first edition of Jaison's Beats & Eats! Being a fond lover of both hip hop music and scrumptious gastronomic delights, I'm taking it upon myself to give the world the best of both. So, sit down and get out that fork and knife (and those speakers), and get ready to dig in to the tastiest beat salad you've ever had.
Our first dish coming your way is a time-tested favorite to dignified hip-hop heads all around, as well as being one of my favorite albums in the game. A classic through and through:
THE WU TANG CLAN'S ENTER THE WU TANG (36 CHAMBERS)
"...Shaolin shadowboxing, and the Wu-Tang sword style..."
These famous first words have been etched into my memory over the years, and yet never fail to get me hyped up like a kid on Christmas morning.
In my humble opinion, no self-proclaimed hip hop fan is legit if they don't recognize the wu and their game-changing 1993 debut album Enter the Wu (36 Chambers). Their hit single C.R.E.A.M. is one of the most recognizable songs in the hip-hop scene today. So what scrumptious meal can ever possibly hope to complement them?
JAPANESE CURRY
Alight, who didn't see this coming? With the Wu being renowned for their love of Asian culture and martial arts movies, it only makes sense for Japanese style curry to be the perfect pairing for Enter the Wu-Tang. Japanese curry is that hearty meal that delivers a spicy kick, paralleling the hard-hitting, gritty kick of the Wu-Tang sound.
Next time you find yourself feasting on this piquant dish, make sure you're slapping the 36 chambers, and loud. You won't regret it.
Word is bond, son.
