Transparency may not be one of the traits that first comes to mind when it comes to producing memorable music, but Australian producer Illstrtd has used his nearly flawless, future bass production as a calling card for quite some time. Having taken on tracks from artists such as Odesza, CHVRCHES, and Azealia Banks, his ability to blend future beats with emotional songs has gained recognition as of late.

His latest release, an original from Melbourne-based Be Rich Records entitled Pictures Don’t Fade, featuring elegant vocals from singer/songwriter Mack Moses, exemplifies his unique production. With simple percussion and a few scattered wubs, the track flows like a stream in its build toward a hook, which will be hard to forget thanks to a perfect blending of pleading lyrics and a dreamy, future drop.

There is no true standout moment in the track. Instead, its thoroughness sets it apart from many of the other EDM releases produced recently. Illstrtd cleary had a complete path in mind for the track, and every step in its journey feels oh so right.
