To some Soundcloud just is a place to store all their favorite songs that they’ve heard from friends or their favorite artists, but to me it is a place of discovery. I enjoy digging deeper, thumbing through friends and artists likes and reposted songs, and seeing what others like and listen to. While doing this I went and checked my friends page to see what she has been listening too (she has exquisite taste) and stumbled upon this small relatively undiscovered artist who goes by the alias Rome in Silver. Trusting my friend’s judgment I clicked on this song that caught my eye. It was a remix of Flume’s classic song Ezra from his self-titled album and I was blown away.

Remixing Flume is a bold statement to make because he’s a musical revolutionary who strays far from the common crowd. Most often a remix of his music falls nothing but short, the original abstract Flume sound is tossed out and it loses its unique aesthetic. However, Rome in Silver does everything but that with this track.
Working beautifully in tune with the original elements of Flumes track, Rome in Silver takes the more experimental Ezra and transforms it into a modern and true future bass banger. Truly a case of love at first drop for me, and I’d be bold enough to say that this relatively new producer has one of the freshest Flume remixes I have ever heard.
