Dance music fans across the globe have been wondering about the whereabouts of Krewella’s main man behind the production, Kristopher Trindl, affectionately dubbed Rain Man by the group and fans, have circulated the EDM space for months. The Chicago-area native has been quiet on social media and a non-factor in almost all of the group’s performances for the past year.
According to Hollywood Reporter, Kris’s absence was due to his recent struggles with alcohol that landed the producer in rehab late last year. After his recovery, Trindl claims that the sisters didn’t enjoy the “new, sober Kris” and claimed he was suffering from depression. "But the Yousaf sisters didn't like the new, sober Kris, who took care of business but did not party or drink anymore," continues the lawsuit. "They thought he was depressed, although he explained it was just part of the recovery process."
His removal from the group was later attributed to his alleged depression, but Trindl claims that he was forced out, alleging that it was a plot so that the sisters could achieve greater financial rewards and fame.
Trindl is currently suing the sisters for upwards of $5 million for kicking him out of the group and for allegedly violating an oath that dates back to the time when the three had "6-8-10" tattooed onto their bodies.
Official legal documents have been published here.
But of course, we are never left without a comment from Mr. Joel Zimmerman himself who had this to say about forming EDM Groups / trios.
EDM protip: if youre going to make a group / trio act... dont fire the guy who actually does shit. #themoaryouknow
