Event Review: Electric Candy Land at Stage 48 NYC

February 26, 2013 -

A brand new EDM experience launched this past Friday at Stage 48 in midtown New York City. Electric Candy Land Events Production Company sprinkled its sweet style across the venue creating the “unparalleled environment where adults can bring out their inner child and enjoy the mystical realm” of what is Electric Candy Land. Unfortunately, there were no overgrown candy trees, life size gummy bears, or chocolate waterfalls. Damn you Willy Wonka for not making the guest list! However, there was Static and Bass, the always sexy Sazon Booya, the man who made the place bounce Ken Loi, and Hyperbits.

We liked how Static and Bass were first up on the decks. The New York-based and twenty years of combined experience duo sported their familiar horned masks that set the wild and eccentric atmosphere of Electric Candy Land. Our personal favorite was Sazon Booya. This New York City born and raised duo put a flare in the air with some moombahton. Mr. Vega and DJ SAV combine old school Latin music with progressive house that gives them that unique one-of-a-kind sound. This Latin influence creates an upbeat, sexy, sensual, atmosphere and brings people to the dance floor with a smile on their faces. But what put a smile on our faces was when they busted out DJ Snake’s "The Bird Machine" featuring Alesia.

Sazon Booya Getting The Crowd Going

Ken Loi! When Mr. Loi touched the decks, Stage 48 touched the ceiling. We can say within 5 minutes of his set the black leather couches were vacant and the dance floor was packed. Earlier in his set he calmed things down and brought in the White Stripes “Seven Nation Army” that got everyone bumping their heads and singing the lyrics. At that moment you could feel everyone inside Stage 48 connect and share the intensity and anxiety growing inside of us. What Ken Loi did nicely was serve the crowd heavy drums and hard bass with the perfect mix of lyrical beauty such as Axwell “In My Mind” and Above&Beyond “Sun and Moon.”

All in all the launch of Electric Candy Land was a huge success thanks to the amazing artists! Check out the sondcloud profiles for each artist below. Enjoy
