This summer's events were packed with some of the dirtiest lineups to date. One of the last outdoor fiascos booked by Embrace was The Dirty Bird BBQ being held at Sherbourne Common in downtown Toronto. Dirty Bird BBQ was first developed in San Francisco back in 2001. The first events were free and held in parks, until things got so massive that the organizer's licence had to be pulled. More than a decade later and the BBQ continues to be a hit.
We arrived pretty early and could hear the bass already pounding . The first thing I wanted to do after getting in was get myself a hamburger and hot dog cooked by the one and only Chef Grillson (who has been the chef for Dirty Bird since 2001). The venue and set up were pretty sweet, not to mention the view you had was magnificent, which included a beautiful landscape shot of the downtown core of Toronto.
Headliners Justin Martin and Claude Von Stroke were each flawless on the decks as expected. Although, J. Phlip threw it down so hard, and happened to be my favourite set of the afternoon. Sadly summer has come to a close now, leaving us with only the memories we have made to reminisce about. Hopefully Von Stroke and the crew decide to roll back through next summer for another day of fun in the sun.
