Take your seats, class. It’s time for some new ENGLISH LIT. March has been a big month for the Los Angeles bass artist. His first single of 2016 dropped just a few weeks ago, but today marks the release of his debut EP – a two-track body of work titled Neverland.
Neverland comes to us from Warpaint Records, a label headed by a fraternal duo known as “The Butcher Brotherz.” The time that the two have put in to growing their collective is a big reason why they have not graced listeners with any originals for over a year. ENGLISH LIT decided to change that, as The Butcher Brotherz make their aural return in the new EP’s collaborative title-track. Neverland, the aforementioned Butcher Brotherz X ENGLISH LIT collaboration, is a massive hybrid trap tune that just oozes with the heaviness we have come to expect from a Warpaint release. The EP’s second track – TigerLily – delivers a somewhat surprising pre-drop section that verges on future bass vibes, but the main drop responds with archetypal dub-infused heat.
Neverland is a truly momentous release for Warpaint. Not only does it mark the triumphant reappearance of The Butcher Brotherz, but also the first anniversary of Warpaint Records. And while it is ENGLISH LIT's first EP, it is also the first official Warpaint Records EP. We decided to reach out to the brothers of Warpaint to get their thoughts on achieving this awesome milestone:
Over the past year, we have had numerous charting releases on Beatport and the UK’s Track It Down. It has been so rewarding to watch our movement grow from an idea in the minds of two brothers in New Jersey to a worldwide legion of like minded artists, as we dig ever deeper into the trenches to gain a foot hold in the electronic music scene."
