Today, Electric Forest (EF) announced the return of the 8^th annual music and camping festival to the legendary Double JJ Ranch in Rothbury, Michigan - hosting two distinct weekends for the second year in a row, on June 21-24 and June 28-July 1, 2018. In conjunction with the announcement, Electric Forest unveiled a new fan participation initiative - The EF Wish Machine – encouraging the Forest Family to spread positivity, and offering the greatest evidence yet that Forest dreams really do come true.

According to the EF website, The Wish Machine is a gesture of keen hope in a time when many of us wish for change in the world:

Kindness, radical acceptance, and good deeds are why The Forest is special. These values create freedom to discover ourselves, celebrate our beautiful differences and our unique gifts.

Goodness starts as a seed. Do you have an idea for a good deed or an inspiration for an act of human kindness?... What you choose to do is up to you.

HQ will choose some efforts to travel full circle, and The Forest's reward can be big or small. What is your daydream of Electric Forest 2018?... Whatever you hope will happen is fair game.

To participate in The Wish Machine, fans must submit their Forest Dream along with what they’re willing to do to have their wish granted. For example, “If I make sandwiches for the homeless every day until EF2018, then Electric Forest will allow me to be on stage with my favorite headliner!”

Fans can also visit EF’s Wish Machine online to see the kind, outrageous, and inspirational wishes of all their fellow Forest Family. Electric Forest will grant wishes by April of 2018.  The Wish Machine is live at ElectricForestFestival.com/wish.

The Wish Machine is yet another example of Electric Forest’s commitment to creating opportunities for the community to shape the EF experience.  Electric Forest’s “Plug In” Program offers fans unprecedented participatory access.  Each year the festival reviews submissions and grants Art Installation Sponsorships – up to $3,000.00 per winner - for builders and artists in the EF community to bring their ideas to life at the festival. For Plug In’s Brainery Workshop, the EF community can sign up and share their skills and knowledge with the Forest Community.

In line with EF’s strong community spirit, in 2016 the festival surprised the EF community by inviting them to announce that year’s artist lineup first.  EF2016 Lineup Invitations, each revealing one or more artists on that summer’s eagerly awaited roster, were mailed to a handful of randomly selected ticket-holders. With mail deliveries throughout the day, new artists were continually shared on social media with the hashtag #EF2016Reveal, creating waves of excitement and a level of interaction between a festival and its fans that has never been seen before.
