Los Angeles-based electro-bass DJ/producer DOWNLOWD has released his newest single “NiteClub” off of indie label, Gold Rush. Trent Shamaley (the DOWNLOWD visionary) says of the single: “Like many people, I spend a lot of time in the club. ‘NiteClub’ is an explosive tune about primal rage and unleashing your inner beast. In the story, Downlowd saves hundreds of people doomed to dance to their death, so the stakes are high- I definitely want folks to be able to feel the action.”

The track follows the release of DOWNLOWD’s debut EP Origins (April 27); and will lead into the highly-anticipated debut of DOWNLOWD’s comic book series and release of the official music video for “Well Connected.”
Every story has a beginning. For DOWNLOWD, ORIGINS tells the tale of his conversion from man to Computerhead hero. Each song is an adventure, furthering DOWNLOWD’s canon. While the first half of the story describes DOWNLOWD's transformation ("Well Connected"), his heroic feat over the tech entities that intended to turn him into a slave ("Unplugged"), and his escape into the cyber labyrinth of the Computerhead Genesis facility ("Enter The Maze"), the second volume of the story is told through more emotion with “GONE”—a sultry rolling House track featuring Danish artist, Faunea, premiered on Insomniac.com (4/26)— “In The Dark”, and the intense conclusion to the EP, “DIE!”.

Along with the EP, DOWNLOWD announces the release of the brand's very first comic book, titled 'Jailbreak' (set to drop June 2018). Written by DOWNLOWD and inked/drawn by Craig Johnson II, the six-page issue will be the introduction to the 'Jailbreak' storyline; as well as the first of several issues. In this adventure, our hero intends to break a long-lost colleague out of GigaJail- a supermax intergalactic prison that holds the baddest of the bad. For the first time, we’ll be introduced to one of DOWNLOWD’s sidekicks, Codex, as well as a mercenary bent on protecting the integrity of the super prison, known only as Hacker.
Trent says of this unique development in the DOWNLOWD project: “I’m mega excited to finally begin to tell Downlowd’s story as it was meant to be told… I wanted to kick the comics off from a place of fun and adventure and kind of build the story and the world around that, rather than taking everything too seriously and never getting it to where I want it to be. I had to be very realistic with myself- my team is very small, but we’re all dedicated, and we’re dreamers- which I think helps the flow a lot. Where 'ORIGINS' will tell the musical tale of Downlowd’s genesis, 'Jailbreak' is more of a separate, standalone story that will expand the world, introduce new characters and lay the groundwork for more of Downlowd's comic saga."
Stay tuned for tour and new release announcements to come.
