Daily Beat Staff

Daily Beat is happy to present a double dose of Bassnectar. With two of his recent shows in Wallingford, Connecticut and Lowell, MA, thousands of dance music enthusiasts gathered at The Oakdale Theater for another incredible stop on the Noise Vs. Beauty tour. With support from Kill Paris and Paper Diamond, Bassnectar sure put on a show in New England last week. Check out the full photos albums and reviews of each show below!

Wallingford, CT: The Oakdale Theater

Doors opened at 8:00 for Bassnectar’s first show in Connecticut, a few stops in on his #NVSB Tour. Son of Kick would the first to go on setting the mood and hyping the crowd up for the next act, Paper Diamond. Son of Kick’s set was fantastic playing some major hits! After an hour of playing, Paper Diamond took the stage. He announce halfway through his set that he would be playing some brand new music! With more and more people coming in, I knew that this should would be packed to the brim!

The time came for Bassnectar to take the stage and we were all ready. He walks out onto the stage with a red solo cup in his hand, like a boss, and begins playing. Bassnectar opened up with Here We Go, a known favorite. Being his first show in CT, he played some rare songs, including Sugarcube, Laughter Crescendo, Water Temple VIP, and a never played song “Open Up”! It was a great mix of Noise and Beauty.

Lowell, MA: Tsongas Center at UMASS

Doors opened at 6:00 for a very early show at the Tsonga’s Center in Lowell. Same lineup as Wallingford show (Son of Kick and Paper Diamond) with the addition of Kill Paris! Son of Kick played yet again a great set playing his legendary song “Playing the Villain” (which Bassnectar drops on from time to time). After Son of Kick, Kill Paris took the stage dominating the crowd! He also played some new tracks, be sure to be on the lookout for those! After Kill Paris musically enchanted us with his keytar, Paper Diamond took the stage. Paper Diamond played a near full house warming everyone up for Bassnectar.

At 9:00 on the dot, Bassnectar took the stage, and opened with one of my personal favorites: encore! The Lowell set was definitely heavier than anyone could have imagined playing songs like Infinite, Frogs, The Matrix, and his brand new remix “Fire” which will be released with the upcoming NVSB Remix Album. He also played some intimate downtempo like his Genesis remix and closing with I am Back remix!
