Melbourne-based bass producer Aydose teams up with Treats MC for the release of “Doof Science,” out today via Grand Alliance Music. The single marks Aydose’s debut on the U.S.-partnered independent label and captures the energy and cultural grit of Australia’s underground dance scene—specifically the “doof” community, a term rooted in the country’s thriving outdoor rave movement.

Built around a hybrid soundscape of orchestral flourishes and bass-weighted structure, “Doof Science” is a high-intensity blend of cinematic and club-ready. Treats MC brings a sharp vocal edge, dropping lines that nod to communal experiences, bass culture, and the physicality of the rave environment. The track arrives as the pair’s first official studio release after a year of joint live performances across Australia.

Aydose, formerly known as $ure$hot during his time in New Zealand, has become a fixture in Melbourne’s bass circuit thanks to his genre-bending approach and deep involvement in the DIY events scene. With 14 years of global radio experience and a decade producing underground bass events in New Zealand, his move to studio-driven collaborations marks a new chapter in his evolution.

Treats MC’s resume includes opening for UK rapper Ocean Wisdom, gaining spins on Triple J Unearthed, and releasing music via Emphasize—adding a layer of versatility and pedigree to the collaboration.

Grand Alliance Music, an artist-run label focused on independence and multi-medium storytelling, describes the track as a showcasing of where forward-facing bass music is headed. “[It’s] technical, forward-thinking, and deeply rooted in this multi-faceted and unique electronic music culture,” said label founder Will Glazier.
