DLG. Leans Into Reflection and Indie Soul on “Rich Man”

With over 50 million streams already in his pocket, DLG. is not stepping into 2025 quietly. The Austin-born, LA-based genre-melder has kicked off his debut album era with “Rich Man,” a track that marks a turn toward gritty indie soul while preserving his knack for melodic stickiness. It’s a personal message disguised as a breezy alt-pop jam, complete with a lyrical wink: “a reminder to my future self that being a rich man isn't worth drowning in quicksand.” The track is laced with groove-forward production and that signature DLG. vocal–equal parts charm and vulnerability.

The single arrives as the first taste of DLG.’s forthcoming debut album, a project steeped in memory and meaning. A bittersweet sonic journal of love and loss, the album mirrors the duality at the core of his artistry. His voice draws easy comparisons to Mac Miller, but there’s something undeniably singular about how it blends with psychedelic instrumentation that wouldn’t feel out of place on a Tame Impala record. Even the visual art is homegrown—crafted alongside his mother, an award-winning visual artist—which makes this rollout feel less like an industry machine and more like a family affair.

DLG.’s artistry lives in that sweet spot where approachable songwriting meets bold production choices. His music is emotionally magnetic without ever pandering, and “Rich Man” only reaffirms that balance. It’s a standout first step into an album cycle that promises depth, grit, and plenty of sonic surprises. Catch him live as he embarks on his first headline tour, launching in LA on May 1st—if this single is any indicator, the stage will feel just as personal as the record.
