For those of you who don't know me, I really love the darker side of dubstep. I know there are so many forms of the genre now, but the old-school dark and minimal stuff still hits the hardest in my opinion. Who better to demonstrate the darkside of Dubstep than Greg Sanders, also known as Distance. One of my personal favorites among the Dubstep heavy hitters, Distance is one of the pioneers of the game.
One of his newest releases is his remix of "Just Be", which features the ethereal vocals of British singer Paloma Faith along with a dark atmosphere into a riveting escalation of absolute madness. The second drop is where Distance shows his true colors and brings in his signature twisted heavy metal sub bass line.
If you want to hear more from Distance and other similar Dubstep producers, check out Dubstep Allstars Vol. 8. This 1 hour mix features a lot of Distance's original productions along with some of the other players in the dark realm such as Cyrus, J:Kenzo, The Others, V.I.V.E.K., and Tunnidge. Also check Distance's label Chestplate for even more dark stuff.
I am going to try to make this a series of posts dedicated to this type of dubstep, but I will also feature some of the other genres as well.
Too much darkness for you?? Lighten up.
