With a career spanning almost 20 years, Tijs Verwest known to the masses as the coveted Tiesto is still at the top of the electronic music world, churning out consistent quality releases and attracting the dedicated fans. His remix of Trance classic, Silence by Canadian electronic group Delerium, was one of the tracks that exposed him to the more mainstream audience. Released back in 2000, this uplifting euphoric trance anthem is perfect for a a tiring mid week morning. Beginning with a driven deep trance bassline, Tiesto expertly blends in Sarah McLachlan's ethereal vocals, allowing this track a mixture of classic trance sounds, and sections that would appeal to the wider audience. When the vocal breakdown arrives at 6.18 I guarantee you will be hooked. The powerful, uplifting vocals perfectly set up a aggressive, euphoric drop which is typical of Tiesto's old hits, such as 'Traffic' and 'Elements of Life.' Enjoy
Heading deep into the winter season and there's been no shortage of quality trance nights in the UK. Armin Van Buuren at The Warehouse Project in Manchester two weekends ago is soon to be followed by a great line up of Trance at Ministry of Sound in London, including Dash Berlin and Eddie Bitar tomorrow night, Ferry Corsten coming up on the 1st of November and an array of other talents at later dates including John O'Callaghan, Jorn van Deynhoven, Simon Patterson and Chicane. We're also looking forward to Above & Beyond's Group Therapy 50 celebration in London which we'll be reporting on. This is definitely no shortage of absolute talent for London's winter months, and we can't wait to get stuck in. On the release circuit things are looking great too with some bombs coming out on the purer Trance side of things.
What better way to kick off your Thursday night than with a huge throwback to one of 2011's biggest tunes? This one is still a staple in the sets of Trance's biggest names, and after hearing it you'll understand why. The classically trained Alex M.O.R.P.H is associated to only the most beautiful and emotional uplifting trance, and this track demonstrates his abilities more than anything else. Starting off as a remix, this track developed into what it is now through collaboration with the amazing Sylvia Tosun. Take a listen, and prepare to be overwhelmed!
Trance is a genre that originated in the early 90s, with Germany being key to its development. Paul Van Dyk for example was a German pioneer that really developed the sound and gave it some commercial exposure. As it developed Trance incorporated elements from Classical, Pop, House and Techno, developing into the vast array of sounds that it now presents itself as today. With the recent EDM explosion, many of the big Trance figures like Armin van Buuren took some sort of shift towards a sound that incorporated house elements (for example in his latest artist album Intense), and other artists like Tiesto took leave to pursue other genres. You might be mistaken for thinking that as a consequence Trance is a dying genre but you could not be more wrong, with a thriving culture of sounds as varied as that within the house scene, catering to everyone's tastes. This package will share some of the new talents that are releasing amazing work, as well as a few older tracks from artists we have loved for much longer. Give it all a listen, even if you aren't into trance and we're sure you'll find some tracks you love.
