Akufen is not well known, but I believe him to be one of the most talented producers I've ever heard. I've been trying to figure out how to describe his music to people--this is a cheese grated jazz/swing house conundrum. His music constantly proposes question to the listener, baiting his or her curiosity with a never ending flow of chopped up auditory questions. Each song may contain anywhere from 50-100 samples--at least that's what it sounds like to me. Also, he is canadian, not sure if that's worth mentioning or not. Knowledge is power; now you know too!
The cover design for his new album Battlestar Galacticlown is hilarious. It reminds me of his music, which is basically a jumble of 1000 different sounds that seem to fly by your fucking ears at the speed of light. I dare you to try and catch all the sounds. Try to grasp on to all the different
This definitely is a step in the right direction for modern house music. If anyone who reads this knows of any other microhouse (that technically the name of the sub-genre we are dealing with here) producers, let me know because I'd love to listen to some other stuff that sounds similar to this. And if ANYONE knows where to get his first two LP albums, please leave a comment. The more Akufen, the better.
My next post will abandon electronica. I have decided to take a short hiatus from listening. I've been listening to it way too fucking much for way too fucking long at this point. It just has no power over me right now, it has no emotion behind it anymore. I'm sure it will sometimes. Expect some other genres. Beware: real instruments are are going to shower down upon you like raindrops in a blossoming spring meadow. You're going to like the way you look!
