BLEACHED FEST 2023
Bleached Fest is San Diego’s latest festival produced by indie/alternative curator, Tight Knit, and CRSSD Festival's producers FNGRS CRSSD. For all the indie lovers who want to see the love child of their ~summer indie vibes~ and ~R&B essentials~ playlists, save the date for August 5-6 at San Diego’s beautiful Waterfront Park. Tickets are on sale, here.
Headlined by mainstream favorites, Leon Bridges and Joji and accompanied by popular stars like Omar Appolo, Caroline Polachek, PinkPanthererss, and Lizzie McAlpine, the festival marries indie-pop, alternative, and new-age R&B in a diverse lineup of acts. Below we’ve curated some other can’t-miss acts for whatever your mood (with a few features on our faves).
FOR A JAW DROPPY JAM: Remi Wolf, binki, Yves Tumor, Channel Tres
It’s hard to put a finger on Remi Wolf’s music. Her genre-bending production, soulfully impressive vocals, and stream-of-consciousness lyric writing deliciously blend into danceable tracks that you can bite into. Her live performances are like being on a sugar high as a kid with an empty trampoline and bucket full of water balloons at your disposal. Get ready to jump.
FOR SWEET GROOVE: Emotional Oranges, Cannons, Aluna, BADBADNOTGOOD
If you want a sexy, summer soiree — don’t miss Emotional Oranges. Their live performances are always groovy, with cheeky on-stage chemistry between “A” and “V”. V’s intoxicating vocals and A's chill, but dancey production will have you looking for someone to move with.
FOR A CHILL, SINGLE TEAR: Hether, Ethel Cain, Baird, Lily Meola
Love a falsetto-crooning indie boy whose songs sound like being kissed by the sun, make your way over to Hether. A San Diego native, Hether's music will make you yearn for the sweet exhaustion after a childhood summer spent under baby blue skies. Come sway.
FOR A LIL SURFY HEAD BANG: Surf Curse, Subtle Oranges, Blondshell, Sam Austins
Friends since childhood, Subtle Oranges really captures a quintessential California summer. These guys will make you feel like you’re in an indie coming of age-starring Nick Robinson — young, reckless, and carefree. If you want to soak up the sun, hang with your friends, and have a cold drink and good music — Subtle Oranges is for you.
