Beats & Pieces Vol. XXI

June 10, 2016 -

Daily Beat Staff

Today is a good day, because B&P just reached the legal age to purchase alcohol in the U.S.!! But for real though, we are excited to bring you all yet another edition of our weekly staff curated segment with this week hosted by myself, Fadi AbuZaineh. These 5 tunes have been circling through my commutes and free time, so I am happy to share them with you all! Here goes...

1. Rihanna - Work ft. Drake (MemoRex Bootleg)

This bootleg gives Rihanna's hit single with Drake the house beat that it deserves. It may not be at that "twerk" tempo, but this groovy tune will make some booties shake nonetheless.

2. RL Grime - Aurora (Whyel Bootleg)

The leader of the Rage Brigade and local California musician Whyel is all about the hard house genre, but that doesn't limit his production abilities. His twist on RL Grime's latest single Aurora has given it a guitar driven melody, with a euphoric drop. Definitely worth listening to and adding to your music library.

3. Alok & Sevenn - BYOB

Alok is on fire with his bass house hits that he consistently puts out. This tune features the hook from the legendary band System of a Down's BYOB, and a filthy drop that will send shivers down your spine. This track is also a free download as well!

4. Goldlink - Spectrum (Redlight Remix)

Hot damn...these bass house edits are getting out of hand. This remix takes rapper Goldlink's already sort of house-type song and turns it into a BANGER. This is something I could imagine Malaa dropping during one of their sets. Redlight deserves a lot of props for this one.

5. Porkchop Live @ Desert Hearts Spring Festival 2016

It has been just over 2 months since we attended the spring edition of one of our favorite festivals, Desert Hearts. The set that was the most significant to us was a little hard to decide since the entire weekend was amazing, but we had to give it to Porkchop. This set has a bunch of old and new favorites, such as Boys Noize's famous remix of My Moon My Man, and a neat rendition of Radiohead's Everything in its Right Place.

Thanks for tuning in to yet another Beats & Pieces! I hope that these tunes will help kickstart your weekend and spark the flame to listen to some different music. Happy listening!
