In Southern California, festival season never seems to end. After an already phenomenal year of music, it seems that even the final months of 2016 will continue to keep the excitement up for dedicated festival goers both local and distant. The announcements of festivals like Escape and CRSSD have already captured the attention of many. But we were totally surprised to see the announcement of this year's lineup for the Orange County local festival Beach Goth, hosted by psych rock band The Growlers.
This delightfully eclectic bill took us all by surprise and as a result lovers of indie, hip hop, and electronic music all shared the excitement for the fifth rendition of the festival. The new venue has been gaining popularity since events like Woogie Weekend and Dirtybird Campout have had successful runs as well. To see acts like RL Grime, The Pharcyde, and Reel Big Fish on the same lineup is very unique. Although it has seemingly less punk, grunge, and psychedelic acts like it used to that is no reason to think lowly of this lineup. The fact that they are expanding the type of music that's being showcased at this event at an even bigger venue is a smart move and step in the right direction. When festivals grow we must grow with them or else we can get stuck on what we're comfortable with, and that's no fun.
Anyway, be sure to keep up with this festival for it is sure to be a hit this year. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased here.
