It’s a dark time for Brooklyn. The borough that lays claim to minimal nightclubs and desolate warehouses is gearing up for another grisly Halloween, and BangOn!NYC is commanding the scene.
As the guys behind the city’s most momentous underground party approach the end of an explosive 2015, they’re pulling out all the stops for their fourth Halloween spectacular. After showcasing at Mysteryland and their own music festival, Elements, let’s first discuss what the event will feature: two stages, a silent disco, interactive art, mutant vehicles, and plenty more frightening curiosities. Add to that this year’s introduction of the BangOn! Sideshow Zone, a Coney Island-style fiasco featuring freakish performers, a flesh-suspension show, a Scooby Doo-themed bouncy castle, popcorn, games, and cotton candy. A haunted house, which will include the Phallic Phalanx, will be adjacent to the Graveyard Cuddle Puddle and Vampire Lounge. And still, a number of secret chambers around the warehouse have yet to be discovered. Eyes gushed out yet? I haven’t even mentioned the headliners.
Flying all the way from Sydney, Australia, is singer-songwriter and producer Hayden James. As part of the Future Classic roster, his music spans genres, frequenting the use of guitars and synthesizers. His latest single, “Something About You,” quickly became a 2015 summer anthem, inspiring remixes from the likes of ODESZA and Ben Pearce. James is joined by Louis the Child, Chicago’s wondrous future duo who recently performed in their hometown alongside Kaskade. We then have Salva bringing his 808-heavy, head-spinning trap from Los Angeles to the backstreets of New York. DFA Records’ The Juan MacLean will give us a taste of his polished and nostalgic style of house. Other headliners include Pumpkin, FDVM, and BOGL.
