Duo Babygirl have released both the audio version and live version of their single "Nevermind." Chocked full of high-school sports nostalgic irony within the branding - seemingly inspired by pop-punk groups like State Champs and The Wonder Years - the 'next generation' feeling vibe here is ruch and incorporates light influences from this sub-culture conjures up something sub-consciously familiar, but all around exciting and original. Alternative rock/indie-folk with lightly sprinkled elements of pop blended in makes the captivating, smoky vocals platformed atop the 4-peice band feel even more enhanced. The single is just the start for Babygirl in 2021.
"Nevermind" is the first single off of the upcoming EP Losers Weepers. Set to release on April 16th via Sandlot Records / AWAL Recordings, this work is clearly the tip of the iceberg when it comes to time-testing tunes coming from the duo.
“‘Nevermind’ is about being let down, and then pretending like you never cared to begin with. The lyrics come from a defensive and cynical place, so we wanted the chorus melody to have a sweetness to counterbalance that. The production on it is inspired by 90’s rock and britpop — artists like Oasis, Bends-Era Radiohead, and Elliott Smith were definitely on our minds while making it.”
