Avicii Going Rock & Roll? Calls For Rock Collaborators For Follow-Up To 'True'

It’s not as if it’s a far-fetched idea, given some of the folk-ey, bluegrass-ey influence found in his blockbuster hits 'Hey Brother' and 'Wake Me Up'… However, some of the reported collaborators are taking Begling to the next level.

Chris Martin

The least surprising suspect here would be Chris Martin of Coldplay. Despite the fact that this would be a less than shocking collaboration in the first place, this is their second tag team effort, as Avicii was a credited producer on Coldplay’s most recent record on “A Sky Full Of Stars”.

System of A Down

Some more intriguing names include Jon Bon Jovi, System of a Down’s Serj Tankian, Green Day’s Billy Joe Armstrong, and a reggae duet between Wyclef Jean and Matisyahu. No word yet on whether or not the Bon Jovi collaboration will be a “Livin’ On A Prayer” remix, but with that voice, me thinks the potential is through the roof with a pop EDM heavyweight and some legendary high notes.

Billy Joe Armstrong

The Serj Tankian and Billy Joe Armstrong collaborations carry a little bit more intrigue, as the willingness of artists of such a rebellious background to insert themselves into such a scene could roll a few eyes in their respective cultures. However, in the spirit of this writer not giving a shit about all that, we can only wonder… Can Tankian turn headbangers into simply bangers? Can Billy Joe Armstrong learn to love the DJ?! As a rocker at heart, I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't a little curious.
