Get into the groove mood people; Amine Edge & DANCE (CUFF) will be hopping straight off a plane from Ibiza and into Brooklyn’s Verboten this Thursday night (6.18.15). The legendary duo, who pioneered the G-House movement nearly a decade ago, is bringing the big guns out for one of June’s most anticipated events.
We first saw Amine Edge & DANCE perform live at Miami Music Week 2014 at HARD Night Two alongside fellow all-stars Destructo, Claptone, and Brodinski. Their style was trampoline bouncy, provocative, and oh so dance-inducing. Fitting right in with explosive lineup, the french pairing blew us away with an impressive set filled with Booty House, Techno, and of course, G-House — This particular flavor, which stands for “Gangsta House”, is one of our favorite electronic sub-genres. For those who aren’t in the know, think house beats with heavy derivatives from 80s Hip Hop and Funk; now doesn’t that sound like a damn good time? It’s the type of music that keeps the crowd on hype until the early hours of the morning (and then some). As the sole creator of such an immense style, with his partner in crime, DANCE – you can have zero doubts these two will rock Verboten’s walls to the ground. Check out their set from “Sleepin is Cheating’s 5th Anniversary” show to get a feel of their savory style.
Opening the night will be fellow CUFF players (CUFF being Amine’s record label) Thee Cool Cats and Mike Palladino. Although we’ve never seen Thee Cool Cats live, you already know we’re quite into their name. Also known as Gerry G. and Tony E., the two Mexico natives joined forces in the early 2000s over their love for Hip Hop, nu-disco, and funky beats. Making small waves in the electronic scene, the pair got their big break after being discovered by Amine Edge; who gave them his full support as their started to release exclusives on the CUFF label. Their latest, Hustler Parade (in collaboration with Ania Iwinska), is a massive cream-speedy track that promotes booty-bouncing behavior in any and all situations.
Mike Palladino, who’s name may look familiar (he’s been on a number of lineups and is an NYC honcho), will be prepping and marinading the crowd for this epic night. Bringing additionally sexy and hip-hop influenced styles to Verboten, his presence and performance deems perfectly cohesive with this relentlessly stirring lineup.
