Amba Shepherd: The New Angel of EDM

January 10, 2013 -

Ryan Farber

Just when I thought I couldn't be more excited for 2013 to kick off.  Yesterday, while going through all of the charts on Beatport and news from all the labels that I love to follow, I saw not one but two announcements about new music coming from Amba Shepherd's collaborations.  Hailing from Sydney, Australia, the new girl on the block proceeded to blow us all away with her chilling vocals and angelic style, earning her DMC World's incredible tag "the number one voice on the dance floor" in May 2012.  Since her move into the spotlight, she has received support from some of the world's largest EDM names as: Tiesto, Paul Oakenfold, Armin Van Buuren, Paul Van Dyk, Kaskade, Afrojack, Gareth Emery, R3hab, Dash Berlin, and Nicky Romero.

I hadn't heard of Amba Shepherd before Hardwell brought her vocals into his year ending anthem "Apollo", but it is safe to say that I am very glad that I did.  The hit single was aired on BBC1, Kiss FM, Capital FM & MOS Radio, and received club and festival recognition by some of the largest DJ's in the game. Since then, I have had the pleasure of hearing her bless my stereo speakers with other huge hits with Giuseppe Ottovani, Ferry Corstein, Mark Sixma, and Kevin Doherty, just to name a few!

But this beauty hasn't stopped there! Just recently, her newest collaboration "Let The Love" with Dmitry KO & Starkillers (the genius behind Pressure with Nadia Ali) has brought in the uplifting anthem feel that will be sure to rock clubs and festivals around the globe. Within a few short weeks of it's announcement, "Let The Love" has been recognized as one of the hit tunes of this year, with a new music video already released.

Riding on all of this amazing reception, Amba is now in high demand for her vocals from many up and coming producers. This week, it has been announced that she will be releasing a collaboration with Mikkas, the production genius behind the remix of Emma Hewitt's "Rewind".  With their track "Finally" to be released on Beatport on January 22nd, it's safe to say that finally won't be soon enough! We're anxious to see what amazingness awaits us in the months to come! Maybe we can see her do a collaboration with Ronin someday 🙂
