ADE Lab, ADE’s new education and talent development platform for young producers and aspiring professionals, has announced global renowned artists including Carl Cox, Ellen Allien, Oliver Heldens, Nicky Romero and Van Anh. The program also offers masterclasses and in-depth sessions with the teams of Spotify, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, Beatstars, ID&T, Armada Music, Martin Garrix’ STMPD Studios, and Charlotte de Witte’s record label KNTXT.

With just weeks to go until Amsterdam Dance Event 2022, the organisation’s newly launched ADE Lab track aimed at the next generation offers a more accessible alternative to the ADE Pro business conference. Among the newly revealed program are; Carl Cox speaking in-depth about his first album in ten years and his move to live sets, Oliver Heldens on balancing his own name and his alias HI-LO, a live special edition of Scuba’s ‘Not a Diving’ Podcast with Ellen Allien, manipulating sound with deep house pioneer Kerri Chandler and a vinyl DJing workshop with Van Anh. It may also be the last chance to see DJ The Prophet, dubbed the Godfather of Hardstyle, on stage, following news that he is retiring.

Global music industry brands

The teams behind music industry powerhouses ID&T, Armada Music and KNTXT will take aspiring professionals behind the scenes about their day-to-day operations, and global giants Spotify, SoundCloud, Bandcamp and Beatstars guide artists through the world of streaming and music ownership. Participants can visit Martin Garrix’ STMPD Studios to learn about mixing spatial sound in Dolby Atmos and get feedback on their demos by Nicky Romero. The ADE Demolition contest hosted by Dave Clarke also returns, where producers can win a large prize pack. Through a collaboration with demo platform VIRPP, contestants can submit their tracks in the leadup to ADE.

Big topics and the latest gear

In addition to production workshops, the program focuses on wider topics such as house music’s black roots and working towards a fully inclusive music scene, how to monetize music independently, and the convergence of electronic music, gaming and the metaverse. Visitors can also get their own hands on the latest production gear by brands, including Ableton, Alter Audio, AIMI, Pioneer DJ, Roland, and Universal Audio, in custom designed gear test areas and studios.

ADE Lab takes place for 4 days from Wednesday, Oct 19 through Saturday, Oct 22 at Brakke Grond and Amsterdam’s Nes area.

Access

The ADE Lab program is accessible with the ADE Lab Pass, available here. The ADE Pro Pass, aimed at music industry professionals, also grants access to the full offering alongside the ADE Pro conference and all other programs during Amsterdam Dance Event.
