Audio Obscura Plots the Unthinkable with Amsterdam’s A10 Highway Rave

Audio Obscura has never followed the path. Now, they’re closing one. As part of Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary celebration, the pioneering dance brand will transform the A10 highway into a massive outdoor rave on Saturday, June 21, 2025. This is not a symbolic venue choice—it’s a literal shutdown of one of the most vital traffic arteries in the Netherlands for a once-in-a-lifetime cultural moment.

The event is part of Festival op de Ring, a city-wide initiative that turns the entire 17 km stretch of the A10 into an open-air platform for music, art, and celebration. Audio Obscura was granted a premium section at the RAI Metro Station zone, where brutalist concrete meets open sky. This raw canvas will serve as the backdrop for a nine-hour rave featuring a stacked lineup of back-to-back DJ sets curated specifically for this historic event.

Audio Obscura has a track record for transforming iconic locations into dance floors. From Amsterdam Central Station to the Concertgebouw to the Rijksmuseum’s bicycle tunnel, their shows have always been about more than sound. They make statements with placement. They reframe the way we interact with music in space. The A10 Highway Rave might be their most audacious project yet.

The event is free and ticketed, made possible through partnership with CUPRA, the car brand known for supporting music through its CUPRA Music platform. To support production, Audio Obscura has teamed up with fashion label Applied Art Forms—founded by Coldplay’s Guy Berryman—to release a limited edition tee. Priced at €75, every euro goes back into funding the show.

It’s rare that a city opens its infrastructure to dance culture at this scale. Even rarer for a brand to take that chance and make it work. The A10 Highway Rave will be remembered not just as a party, but as proof that underground music can still shift the center of gravity.
