5 Artists To Watch Out For @ HARD Miami 2014

February 12, 2014 -

Ryan Farber

This year's HARD Festival in Miami is going to be one for the books.  Two nights: The Rump Shaker & Night Two, featuring heavy hitters such as Boys Noize, MIA, Basement Jaxx and Brodinski.  But that's not all.  While soaking in the glorious Florida sun, you will also find a wide spectrum of flavors from 18 other artists at Hard Miami this March.

1. Cashmere Cat

I had the pleasure of seeing Cashmere at the TLA in Philly with Griz a couple of months ago.  While it was not the most energetic set, it was definitely something people could vibe out to.  Expect a whole lot of future bass and/or Jersey Club, and a lot of those bed squeaking sounds.

2. Tchami

Tchami has a sound that is getting increasingly popular in club's.  It's not Deep House, it's not really Tech either.  It's not nearly as aggressive as Big Room House but it still hits pretty hard.  Tchami labels it as "Future House" on his SoundCloud, but I think it's up for interpretation.  Who needs genres anyways.  All I know is that I am obsessed with his sound, and hope to start hearing it more in clubs and maybe even larger festivals.

3. Shift K3y

Hailing from London, Shift K3Y is another producer reigning in that UK Bass House sound that we have all come to love (especially me!).  However, this 20-year-old producer/singer/DJ, also has an extremely wide spectrum of sounds in addition to house, from Dubstep to Garage to Trap.  He had his first release on Bullet Train records when he was 17, and was just featured on Skream & Benga's show on BBC Radio 1 for a guest mix.  Look out for this kid.

4. Wax Motif

Australian expatriate Danny Blanc now resides in LA making electro bangers.  Best known for his track "Go Deep" with Neoteric, he also churns out deeper tunes under the alias Playmode.

5. Tourist

I am really excited to what this UK producer will bring to the table in Miami.  Another bloke from the London, he has a fantastic grasp on the deep side of electronic music.  His tracks are soulful and emotional, but danceable at the same time.  Listening to his Boiler Room set really put me in a trance.  Check out his track "Tonight" off his new EP of the same name.
