The hardest part of Ultra Music Festival may be trying to catch your flight the next day, but an even harder part is re-educating yourself with all the heaps and heaps of new unreleased tracks which you may have missed. DJ’s and producers alike use Ultra as a platform to release new music, and the most annoying part is that you only get to hear these amazing new tracks once.
The coined term for these unreleased gems is more commonly known as the infamous “ID”. It’s a DJ’s way of showing the tip of the iceberg, giving us insight to what’s in store for them in the coming months.
And may I ask, how many times did you hear an ID which you simply just ADORED and quickly become agitated since you didn’t know the name of the track? Well luck for you, due to the power of the Ultra live stream and avid music lovers of the internet, we are able to hear these amazing tracks once again. Here’s a list of my top 10 favorite ID’s that Ultra has bestowed upon us (in no particular order).
Pushing out more progressive tracks, it's nice to know Porter's still amazing at his regular wobbles. Amalgamating an extremely trance driven build and executing a fat bass driven drop, it's safe to say I am anticipating Porter's new album just as much as Andrew Bayer's.
09. Alvaro - ID:
Having woo'd various individuals with 'Make The Crowd GO' and the more recent "Welcome To The Jungle", the new dutch frontman just releases anthem after anthem, and this time bringing alot of snare drums and more importantly, bass.
Having not heard even one single negative comment about Hardwell's weekend 1 set, it's a given that a track would be included from his game changing set. With the recent switch from Trance to House, Hardwell collabs the more recent additions to the Revealed roster, W&W, with their recent success with "The Code" and "Lift Off" to create an banger which starts with the W&W Remix of Clarity and a bangerrific drop with the infamous "1, 2, 3 JUMP!" sample everyone has grown to love.
07. Dog Blood - ID:
This track was also a given. Having been my favorite set over the two weeks (a close tie with Porter's set), it was hard to choose this over the Goin' In (Dog Blood Remix), but man the anticipation this track has built is just insane for me. Having being teased on Holy Ship and as well as the Chicago Nest stream, the hype was just perfect for this track. And might I add, OMG A NEW DOG BLOOD TRACK YES?! The world know that this is a start of an amazing new duo. More insight on the duo in the PotatoWillEatYou BANG! Video
Finally shedding light on the ID that Hardwell played at EZoo 2012 with the well fitting Lose My Mind vocals, it is finally premiered to the world that it was a collab with none other than Dyro and worlds 2nd best DJ, Tiesto. Straying from the usual Dyro-esque sound, yet still retaining the signature Dyro kicks and bass, this track comes as a progressive bomb, fulfilling the craving for those happy uplifting tracks.
05. Hardwell & Dyro - Never Say Goodbye Ft. Heather Bright:
Having been previewed in Milan at Overmind as an ID, a name and finally the vocalist is released for this progressively commanding tune. Looks like Dyro has been expanding his musical genres, finally ranging from Electro to Progressive and even Dubstep. Keep a keen out for this track, it's definitely going to become a festival charmer over the next few months.
04. Chuckie - ID (Fuckin' Hands [Working Title])
Chuckie had a NUMBER of unrelaseaed track, with single debuts all the way to a collab with former Guns and Roses guitarist, Slash, but this one stuck out the most. Bringing that dutch sound to a more banging level has really become an industry standard nowadays, and Chuckie uses a infectious sample with a great build to wow the crowd with a dutch drop. I can't wait to hear the remixes this track brings out.
03. Steve Aoki, Tujamo and Chris Lake - ID:
Although not very closely a personal favorite of mine, this track is on the list more due to the hype it will bring once it's released. Everyone over the world is waiting for something new from young German producer, Tujamo after his COLOSSAL release of Who which was supported by everyone and their mothers. Well it's been a while after Who and There It Is have been released, we not finally have the three way collab thats been buzzing around on Twitter and Instagram for a while.
02. Laidback Luke & Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike - ID
While this has been around since last summer where it was first introduced at Tomorrowland, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike have been hinting about their collaboration all week with the Dutch star, Laidback Luke. During Ultra the duo came on stage during weekend two to drop the song, and even shared a picture about putting finishing touches on the ID via Facebook. I don't know about you, but I am really excited about this song, as every tune Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike turns into one of the biggest the anthems of the festival season.
01. Carnage - Tomohawk
Last but not least, Tomohawk. I have been perplexed about matching the name of the song to the actual one. However, after many rumors and a nice tweet I found last night, I finally found a connection. I still consider this an ID track, since no one really knows about it yet. It will be another one of the anthem for festival season. Trust me.
