This Week in Music & Fashion: Duck Sauce Says Happy Lunar New Year, & Trippy Prints

Milli Encarnacion

Week ending February 21, 2015 – DJ duos, New York Fashion Week, and Lunar New Year celebrations were in full swing this past week, and all the stylish garb was nothing short of fantastic.

Flume (@flumemusic) flies solo in a bomber jacket

Flume has been courting the news circuit lately with the news of his departure from What So Not. I've only seen the Aussie duo perform twice (once at EDC Vegas, and once on Holy Ship!), but Flume, also known as Harley Streten, wasn't present at either set – so the news is unfortunate yet unsurprising. Here he is in happier times, wearing a printed bomber that resembles this one by River Island. Prints will resurface as soon as the warm sunshine finally hits us, so prepare yourself and your wardrobe.

A-trak (@atrak) and Armand van Helden (@armandvanhelden) helped design a limited-edition coat

"Hey it's Chinese New Year! Now you can get the official DUCK SAUCE gold satin show jackets. Super limited. As worn by Liberace and Freddie Mercury. Available now at store.foolsgoldrecs.com."

Duck sauce is the sweet-yet-sour, jelly-like dressing that comes at the bottom of Chinese take-out bags. And Duck Sauce, the DJ duo, is the side-project of A-trak and Armand van Helden. The latter collaborated with New York fashion label, En Noir, to produce a limited run (read: 75 pieces worldwide) of the Duck Sauce x En Noir Satin Jacket. It's described as a luxe version of the coat we often see the Fool's Gold crew rocking on stage. Get your hands on one here. Happy Lunar New Year, fools.

Olivia Nervo (@nervomusic) chills out at Fashion Week

NERVOMUSIC

"Brrr it's cold outside but FASHION IS PAIN innit ;)"

Save for the skyscrapers, Halal carts, and out-of-control motorists, it's hard to tell the difference between New York City and the Arctic these days. Thousands of stars flocked to this icy jungle for Fashion Week, including Australian twin-duo, NervoOlivia Nervo channeled an enlarged snowflake in a white faux-fur coat. (Try this jeweled version from Nasty Gal.) Her leopard-print romper played well underneath, but I might have suggested one more layer. Or three.

The Blonds go platinum

Phillipe and David Blond are best known as the glamorous duo behind popstars' outrageous costume designs. Known collectively as The Blonds, their Fall 2015 show – presented by MADE Fashion Week in New York – gathered the most wondrous parts of Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange, threw them in a blender, and spit the results out on the runway. One unforgettable piece was this chrome, abstract mask in the shape of a cat's head. This piece is DIY-able, so use your creativity and make one for your next festival!

Not too many people know it, but The Blonds' runway is actually the pot of gold at the end of a unicorn's rainbow. In tune with A Clockwork Orange, the designers' whimsy frocks came emblazoned in trippy patterns, such as this 'shroom-covered number on the right. Try the similarly inspired "Far Away" dress from Dolls Kill as a more affordable alternative.
