This past weekend marked the anniversary of my first ever EDM show. I can honestly remember it like it was yesterday, as I last minute joined my friends on their way out to Los Angeles to see a DJ by the name of Datsik. I honestly had no idea what I was in store for that night as I sat in the back seat of the car texting my friend Sam asking her exactly who Datsik was; needless to say that since then I’ve been addicted to not only electronic music, but the dance music culture as well. Through this culture I found out who I truly was, and I learned to take stances on issues that not only mattered to me, but also the ones that mattered to the fellow family members in my community.
Music is an incredibly powerful tool to enact change or bring about awareness, and Electric Family Events is doing just that next Thursday June 4th at Sound Nightclub in Los Angeles with their first installment of charity events. If you haven’t heard of Electric Family Events, it’s about time you became familiar with them. Their mission is to inspire positive action in the dance community to benefit those in need, and to get others more involved in charitable activities by educating and inspiring music lovers to further push that education outwards into the community at large.
This special event is to benefit The Community Water Project, which aids rural communities in California with drought relief during these dry times. It is not new news that California is experiencing a massive drought and that farmers in Central California have had to massively cut water usage, a drive up the 5 North will tell you all you need to know about a situation that hits way too close to home and our stomachs.
However, now thanks to Electric Family we the Los Angeles EDM community can come together to inspire and make actual change. This night of rain dancing will be hosted by, GottaDanceDirty (hosting BONES and Shae B) Take 2, (hosting Eric Sharp and Modus) Space Yacht, (Hosting LondonBridge and special guests), and EFE (hosting Templeton). Make sure you grab your tickets HERE because with every ticket you purchase online you receive another for FREE, and you are helping out a great cause. Also make sure you keep up to date with Electric Family to see what other events they are putting on to make our community a better place to live, love, laugh, and dance.
