Oliver Heldens goes HELDEEP in Tampa

For a Wednesday night show in Tampa, Florida, the line that wrapped around the block was pretty impressive. This wasn't just any Wednesday night show - Oliver Heldens was back in town and ready to go #heldeep at The Ritz Ybor.

The Ritz's three-room interior made it easy for everyone to warm-up and get in good spirits for the headliner. Of the openers, we had several memorable sets from both the main room and side rooms.

In the side rooms we had DJ Ronnie Lopez, Kyushu (Grant Lee), Blunts & Blondes (Mike Guard) and a few others. In one side room Ronnie Lopez and Kyushu held it down in the midst of traffic coming in and out of the venue. From start to finish they equipped the Ritz with the exact amount of #turnup that it needed. Murdering the decks across the hall we had Blunt & Blondes who had no trouble filling up an empty room in minutes. His signature genre-defying set proved effective as it brought in more than triple the amount of people that were there before.

Opening things up in the main room first was Brandon Sutton. Sutton kept the vibe chill with an array of house music that made the perfect transition for the next opener. Orlando native Alex Wood also threw down an incredible pre-headliner set. He took to the decks with a hybrid of styles that ranged from techno to deep house and trap that officially settled everyone in for Heldens to make his debut.

Although he came a little late, once Heldens made his grandiose appearance, the energy in the room rose to an incredible level. He played for almost two hours, but no one was complaining! He dished out old and new tracks, some of which were "Koala," "Melody" and one his newest pieces "Shades of Grey."

Throughout the show there were a few unexpected events. We first we had group of girls storm the stage just to get up there and dance with him - and then an even BIGGER group joined them to have what looked like the entire crowd on stage. The best part of the night had to be when Bradley Tuggle aka Papa Turnt shared a shuffle with Heldens. Papa Turnt has been shuffling across U.S. festivals for the past several years and was recently recognized by Heldens for his amazing skill. Near the end of the night, Heldens put on "Bunnydance" and they shared the stage for a short time. What a memorable moment for the both of them! (check out the video below).

For Helden's first time playing at The Ritz, he sure did make a lasting impression on attendees. It was definitely a night to be remembered and only the beginning of a legacy that he will continue to bring to Tampa.
