Madsonik Produces for xXx: Return of Xander Cage

xXx: Return of Xander Cage is low-key the best flick I've seen in 2017. Granted, it's only January (a month when studios release their biggest pieces of shit) and I already saw all the Oscar noms, BUT HEAR ME OUT... xXx is a BANGER and a great palette cleanser from the award show bait. Don't get me wrong, I love biopics, depressing, socially conscious films, but sometimes you just want to turn that part of your brain off and wild the fuck out. Enter stage left Xander Cage.

xXx is unrepentant in every aspect, and the film's music is the epitome of that thanks to two tracks by composer/producer Madsonik: Divebomb and Take it to the Top.  The song "Divebomb" is a collaboration with Tom Morello, and incorporates both aspects of real rock band instrumentation and popular EDM effects. Island drums bring you in and then you are pumped up by Rage Against the Machine-esque guitar rifts. The sounds are a marriage made in action movie heaven. The track is used during a huge action sequence where Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) falls from a plane, and plummets towards earth, thus the title: "Divebomb." Madsonik also credits the effectiveness of the production to the build of the guitar rift and the eventual "Divebomb!" drop, coinciding with Cage jumping from the plane. The song is composed masterfully to fit the tone of the film and it's no surprise given Madsonik's history. He has created music for some of the top grossing action films of the last 10 years including The Avengers and Fast and Furious franchises.

Although it may seem a straight forward task, creating a musical piece for a film you haven't seen is a tightrope walk. The music influences the audience subconsciously and can carry the momentum of a scene. If the track isn't right it becomes distracting. Madsonik's work blends seamlessly with xXx. Hopefully we'll hear more from Madsonik on the big screen.
