Lightning in a Bottle, North America’s premier independent music and arts festival, revealed the lineup today for its 2020 event as it prepares to return to Buena Vista Lake in Southern California for the second year - this time over Memorial Day Weekend, May 20-25.

Since the early 2000s, the Do LaB has fostered a boutique experience that has gone on to inspire a global movement within the larger festival community. Lightning in a Bottle stands as a destination for musical artists looking to perform within creative stage environments in front of one of the scene’s most engaged and dedicated crowds. The 2020 LIB lineup continues this ethos by including an eclectic pluralism of acts that extend across the live and electronic spectrums.

The event’s flagship Lightning Stage will once again play host to a finely tuned roster of live and electronic behemoths. The stage will feature performances from renowned urban beatsmith Kaytranada, indie-pop sweethearts Sylvan Esso and Purity Ring, and electro-funk maverick GRiZ, innovative dance music icon Four Tet, the sweeping soundscapes of Big Wild, genre-blenders Jon Hopkins and Emancipator, and more.  After a three year hiatus, LIB favorite the Lucent Dossier Experience also returns to captivate with its avant-garde and mesmerizing cirque-style theatrics.

The coveted house and techno haven of the Woogie will continue its legacy of bringing the world’s premier party-starters together under its kaleidoscopic shade structures. 2020 Woogie selectors include global mogul Nina Kraviz, a unique Bob Moses club set, German techno wizard Stephan Bodzin, Dirtybird favorites Justin Martin and Justin Jay, Ukranian duo ARTBAT, South African 4/4 legend Kyle Watson, and Crew Love captains Soul Clap, plus plenty more vibe checking producers and countless weekend surprises.

The Thunder Stage will stay true to its bass heavy nature as it recognizes a mix of some of the genre’s brightest stars and of the moment talents. James Blake will perform a special DJ set, unique Brazilian sound engineer Amon Tobin will be presenting his Two Fingers project, and verteran neurofunk trio Noisia will make LIB a premiere stop on their final tour. The stage will also feature notorious turntablist DJ Shadow, a DJ set from scene leaders Keys N Krates, LIB favorites and audiovisual mavericks The Funk Hunters, future-bass wizards DROELOE, and West Coast beat luminary EPROM.

Attendees have the opportunity to kick things off a day ahead of the crowds by purchasing a 5-Day Festival Pass that allows for festival entry on Wednesday to beat the Thursday traffic. These early-arrival privileges come with exclusive access to the seven hour lakeside welcome party, soundtracked by west-coast house and techno brigade Desert Hearts crew members Mikey Lion, Lee Reynolds, Marbs, and Porky. CEO and founder of LA-based electronic music collective Soulection, Joe Kay will take control in the evening as he debuts his famed four hour takeover at the bass-heavy sanctuary of The Stacks.

Lightning in a Bottle’s dedicated fanbase returns year after year to not only see their favorite musicians perform, but to experience the growing community of adventurers, educators, and visual artists that make up the festival’s programming. From the abundant health and wellness workshops hosted by the Compass & Learning Kitchen to extensive yoga programming that allows attendees to unwind from full days of dancing, LIB proves time and again that music festivals can be a place to learn and grow. Through their unique fusion of cause-driven educational programming, endless immersive installation art, and wacky activities from the rink-a-dink roller rink to the Unicorn Palace or Jive Joint, LIB is defined by its ability to create lasting, creative memories for fans looking for something more.

Lightning in a Bottle is ready to return home to the beautiful shores of Buena Vista Lake in Southern California and reclaim its traditional Memorial Weekend date – May 20th-25th 2020. Buena Vista Lake has immediately brought comfort and familiarity to the LIB community, and thanks to its swim-friendly waters, abundant grassy topography and thick shade trees, it has become a welcomed getaway for all that attend. 2020 attendees will once again be able to expect the experience of a lifetime guided by forward-thinking musical curation, immersive art installations, and cause-driven educational programming that has come to define Lightning in a Bottle.
