It’s been a big couple weeks for Los Angeles based artist and industry mogul Gary Richards. This last week, he announced the 10th anniversary of his flagship summer event HARD Summer, which will take place back at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA.
HARD Summer has become a staple in the Southern California music scene, with it mostly being known for it’s consistently stacked lineups and proudly calling itself a music festival and not a rave. For it to be around for its 10th year is a major feat in itself, and we are ecstatic to see what Gary Richards has planned for this year’s event.
For a second bit of news, Gary also dropped a new EP under his G-House moniker DESTRUCTO. The new EP, out now on his own HITS HARD label, features the timeless nocturnal banger “All Nite” with west coast rap luminaries E-40 and Too $hort. Its initial singles soundtracked 2016.
Personally premiered by Zane Lowe on Beats 1 in January, “4Real” [featuring Ty Dolla $ign & iLoveMakonnen] would eventually amass over five million Spotify streams and over one million YouTube views in six months‘ time in addition to garnering features from Pitchfork, HotNewHipHop, Stereogum and many more. “Catching Plays” (feat. Pusha T & Starrah)” followed, cracking over two million cumulative streams on Spotify.
Following their collaboration “Dare You 2 Move,” which ratcheted over three million Spotify streams, he re-teams with Los Angeles spitter Problem for the bombastic and booming “Winning.” Meanwhile, Freddie Gibbs lights up the title track with a gruff, gritty, and guttural flow.
