Future Classic Brings Massive Party to Good Room Brooklyn [10.24.15]

This Saturday the amazing, the prodigious, the oh so saucey Australian music label known as Future Classic is bringing a full arsenal of delectable artists to Brooklyn's Good Room for their NYC stop on their USA Tour. They're brand is tasteful, melodic, and naturally sensual - with artists like Flume, Ta-ku, and Cashmere Cat under their wing, you can assume their sound is eyes-rolling-in-the-back-of-your-head good. -- this particular show brings nine Future Classic artists together for a monumental performance on Saturday October 24. Let's dive headfirst into the lineup...

Cyril Hahn

One of Future Classic's biggest names, the Vancouver based producer is known to be characteristically smooth, his sound evocative of gently refracted light and pastel satin sheets. Like many of the artists of this label, his heavy R&B influences create an easy listening style that's hard to say no to. His latest EP, "Begin" is completely dreamlike and practices warm harmonies. He mixes with a higher energy, but never the less keeps consistent with his soft spoken style.

HNNY

A pleasantly mellow artist, HNNY uses a blend of live instruments and electronic garnish to caress his audience. Many of the Swedish sensation's mixes flow like decadent free form jazz - complete with piano solos, snare drums, and that enticing sax. We can't be sure exactly what type of set HNNY will play for Brooklyn, but we can guarantee it'll bring an intoxicating smile to your face.

Tornado Wallace

Oooh Tornado Wallace, 'Straya's own, brings a darker, more tribal feel to the Future Classic party. Multifaceted, sparring like a kaleidoscope - his beats are tangible, they pull at your mind in various layers you can't quite put your finger on. Last year's release, the Circadia EP, is an experience in itself; the type of music you can dance the night away with, or use to drift into another dimension. His latest, Kangaroo Ground and Ferntree Gully, are much darker and more promiscuous -  he describes these as tropical funk/acid. We're in for a huge treat, can't wait to see him perform for the first time!

Kenton Slash Demon

This Denmark hailing duo - made up of Silas Moldenhawer and Jonas Kenton -- bring to the mix a futuristic vibe that jumps from ethereal to aphotic and back. Their most recent, Skydancer (Part I and II) is a perfect representation of their eclectic musical taste. My favorite, their June 2015 Boiler Room set, exhibits hues of disco, tropical, house, techno, and every other pleasant sound you can imagine. Definitely one of the acts I'm most excited for, Kenton Slash Demon provides us with a spectacle that urges heavy dancing and active inspiration.

Jacques Renault

Ah, Brooklyn's own Jacques Renault, who recently played at the FIAT X BOILER ROOM Imports Party (held at Verboten) - is the head honcho at Let's Play House, a disco, house, and techno party making it's mark on the NYC scene. As a DJ, he's a hell of a good time - bringing the funk like a mini Moon Boots with a slight sprinkling of Mikey Lion. That hip swaying, clap to the beat movement if you will. As a producer, he sometimes dabbles with a more club-like sound, keeping his upbeat style in tow. Renault will bring the vibes, plain and simple - looking forward to getting down with him!

Chrome Sparks (DJ Set)

Chrome Sparks, who will be releasing his Parallelism EP on Future Classic in early November, is one seriously seductive individual. One of his most well known pieces of work, Marijuana, is delightfully ambidextrous in the way it tickles the layers of your psyche. More recent releases, like the original Losing U, and countless edits of other artists, affirm his talent with ariose and creative, uplifting sounds. Check out his FADER mix put out last year, it's purely feelgood and worth a full listen.

Touch Sensitive

TOUCH SENSITIVE. THAT GOOD GOOD. Oh yes, funky funk will be dripping from Good Room's walls with this guy on stage. Aussie Michael Di Francesco is a master when it comes to serving up some tenacious groove - and under the light of a spinning disco ball he seems eerily in his perfect element. My personal favorite is probably yours too, the 2014 track "Teen Idols" which has been a staple in the world of disco sets. His style ranges from carnal and smooth, to heavily upbeat - as one of the biggest names on Future Classic, you can have no doubt his performance will be momentous.

JDH + Dave P

Another Brooklyn local, Josh Houtkin, better known as JDH, has been making his mark on the NYC nightlife scene. Along with Dave P, the pair has been heading the FIXED parties - which boast two things: good music and good people. What more could we ask for? Stylized with mellow, 80s inspired, and disco-esque tracks, JDH + Dave P is without flaw, a cohesive choice for the Future Classic Party.

So there you have it, a complete break down of what to expect for this Saturday's Future Classic show. A pretty amazing lineup, loaded with great music and maybe even a few special surprises. We simply can't wait to rock the dance floor all night long with these artists!
