For a late EDM bloomer, Abe a.k.a. Ookay has been quickly rising to the top of festival season lineups. Since his first TomorrowWorld performance in 2014, you may have seen him at EDC Orlando or EDC Las Vegas spinning B2B with Kennedy Jones. This year he’s been rolling out as a lone ranger to popular events like Ultra Music Festival in addition to the recent release of his Ghost EP.
With EDC Las Vegas happening this weekend, we took a moment on June 6, 2015 at Gilt Nightclub to discuss the fate of the dance floor. It’s safe to say: it’s going to be LIT. Check out the interview we had with Abe about his plans for Orlando and EDC Las Vegas this weekend.

If this interview didn’t give you a taste of Ookay’s personality, then you need to get into his traphouse for yourself! You can tell from his simile–”Ultra is like school and Miami Music Week is like lunch… ” that he comes from a childhood not so different from yours.
Ookay’s dj style takes you back to middle school dances, but with a trap twist while dropping throwbacks like Blink 182, Soulja Boy, and Mariah Carey. Throughout the night, it was only proper that he dropped several tracks from his good friend, DJ Snake.
During the interview, Abe promised at least two more trap bangers similar to the Lean On [It’s Lit Bootleg] that was just released June 5, 2015. That remix and a new collab with A-Trak are tracks to keep an eager ear out for!
Ookay reminds us that it’s all about having fun with the music and experimenting with different styles that will craft yourself into a better musician. You can hear this from the variety that his Ghost EP has to offer. Ookay seems to always have surprises hidden in his hat so make sure you listen to the very end of the video when he drops his unreleased first dubstep track!
