Brrr! It was chilly in New York City when the Cold Crush Tour passed through Webster Hall Friday, February 7th. The New York City fans embraced the cold, and lined East 11th street dancing in the newly laid blanket of white snow to beats by Paper Diamond. Webster Hall did the city a favor booking this wild show.
LOUDPVCK not only took the Grand Ballroom stage at 12:30am, they took it over. Paper Diamond had a hard act to follow. Right as I entered the Grand Ballroom balcony, LOUDPVCK decided to throw down my “right now” personal favorite, Ratchet Bitch (Milo & Otis Remix). As if the spirit in the Grand Ballroom needed to be lifted anymore than it already was, they left the crowd with their own personal edit of Dark Fantasy.
And then it was Paper Diamond.
It was bass, trap, and twerk twerking it all night long. But Paper Diamond impressed me with his versatility. Of course bass was a heavy present throughout his set however, when he took the stage the atmosphere suddenly shifted. The dramatic visuals placed the crowd in a state of awe and tracks like ETC!ETC! & Snails track RUBBR with guitars and ambient chords entered the crowd into its next high.
What made the night for me was bumping shoulders with Kenny from LOUDPVCK in the Grand Ballroom Balcony during Paper Diamonds set. He was just one of the crowd…
