One of the most anticipated tours in EDM is coming to the Tower Theatre in Philadelphia tomorrow night. We all know the name – Porter Robinson – the 22 year old self-taught producer who rose to international fame in 2011 when dance music took the US by storm. Off the strength of his debut EP Spitfire and the hit single “Language,” Porter quickly became a top 5 act for the swarm of new EDM fans. However, his newfound fame brought about sense of disillusionment and he retreated to the studio to tear down preconceptions of his music.
The result was Worlds, a full-length album that found middle ground between the rush of festival EDM and indie appeal of acts like M83 and Passion Pit. Initial reports from the accompanying tour find Porter at his most creative and experimental, implementing live vocals and other elements into the traditional EDM act. Tour support comes from recent Fool’s Gold signee Giraffage and glitchy video game enthusiast Lindsay Lowend. The show starts at 8pm on Friday, October 10th. Will you be there? Buy tickets here.
