In 2003, two friends from Poland, Grzogorz and Wojciech, DJ’d their first gig under the duo alias name “3 Channels” in Szczecin. Within a few months, divine bass creator Claude VonStroke took them under his wing (his Dirtybird wing that is). After a highly revered vinyl release and multiple EP’s, Grzogorz and Wojciecre re-invented themselves as CATZ ‘N DOGZ in 2008. Now, as Dirtybird heavyweights with their own label, Pets Recordings (which throws a monster showcase party every year at Mexico’s BPM Festival), Catz ‘N Dogz will be bestowing their lavish, wavy talents at Verboten on Saturday January 31. Catz 'N Dogz first caught my attention in 2012 when a friend played their North American Takeover Mix at a party; since then I have seen them a handful of times in both NYC and Miami. Regardless of location, these two never fail to deliver a satisfyingly bouncy set complete with levels of funk that keep the crowd going from start to finish.
Playing alongside will be London’s curator of Jackathon Jams, Heidi, who will be sure to deliver a trademarked high energy set (one can only hope Interracial Booty Calls will be dropped). Check out her latest BBC Radio 1 Mix to get a feel for her current layered, deep, disco-esque style.
El_Txef_A and Tunico will also be mixing Saturday night; so get ready for a night full of deep bass, house tunes and booty clapping vibes, this is something you do not want to miss.
